Where are my documents stored?

In your own Google Drive or OneDrive. Fermly reads a document when you ask it to, generates embeddings, and keeps the intelligence — not the file. The original never lands on our servers, so your data retention and deletion policies stay yours to set.

How do I know an answer is correct?

Every answer shows its source. Case law results carry the neutral citation, legislation results carry the citation path down to the provision, and document analysis links back to the passage it drew from. You can open the original and check the finding yourself, which is the point — the tool is there to find the authority, not to be trusted blindly.

51,000+ reported South African judgments and 192,000+ statutory provisions across 483 acts. Alongside them sit 9,300+ practitioner profiles and 2,900+ judicial profiles built from the appearance record. Search runs across all of it together using hybrid vector and full-text matching with citation graph traversal.

Is Fermly built for a solo practice?

Yes — that is who it is built for. Legal AI has largely been built for the firms that could already afford research departments. Fermly is the other way round: the individual plan is a single seat with the full research corpus included, not a stripped-down tier.

What does it cost?

Individual access is $49.99 a month. Corporate is $59.00 per seat per month, billed for the seats you use with no cap on users. Both are billed in US dollars. That is the entire price list — there is no enterprise tier held back for firms that can pay more, and no quote to request.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. The trial runs for 14 days or until you have used a set amount of AI processing, whichever comes first, so you can test it on real work before deciding.

PDF, DOCX, TXT and RTF, plus scanned images through OCR. That covers contracts, pleadings, briefs, correspondence and judgments. Analysis includes contract review, risk flagging, legal summaries and case analysis, each linked back to the source text.

Fermly connects to Google Drive and OneDrive for documents, syncs deadlines to Google Calendar, and exports time entries to QuickBooks. Nothing has to be migrated — your files stay where they already are.

Access is role-based and enforced at the database level, not just hidden in the interface. Partners and admins see firm-wide, attorneys see the matters they are assigned to with write access, and paralegals and assistants see assigned matters read-only. Ethical walls are available on the corporate plan.
